The pack fits us both, with multiple, easy, adjustments at shoulder and waist. The pack is comfortable to wear on even steep uphill climbs; it is not a particularly lightweight pack, but even when loaded, the load is barely noticeable,as the weight seems comfortable dispersed. The pack has good air flow and ventilation. The sternum strap can slide up and down to vary adjustment, and has an integrated whistle in the buckle. The black pack is sharp looking, with nice color trim, and will not show the dirt and grime that will accumulate as we use this through the years!
We determined the pack has adequate capacity for a few days; sleeping gear, backpacking kitchen, food, and a few clothes...we also found room for our dog's food. The lower compartment held a Teton Tracker +5 sleeping bag, with a snug fit, but we could not put my husbands XXL sleeping bag into this compartment.
The pack has multiple attachment straps, accessory loops, and a small pouch on the hip belt ( which we found great for dog treats!). My Tubbs Snowshoes easily attached to the outside of the pack with the horizontal straps, and poles are secured nicely to the side of the pack. The side mesh pockets are deep, and hold a water bottle securely. There are 2 side access zippers, making it very easy to get into the main compartment, even when he pack is loaded and secured.
We always carry a tarp with us, for emergency use. This pack comes with a combo poncho/rain fly/emergency shelter...a bit on the heavy side, but very nice, large, and it easily fits into the top compartment of the pack.
We feel that this pack is a great investment, and we look forward to continuing to utilize it in many different conditions. It is versatile, and offers many possibilities for packing, gear attachment, and use by folks of different size. We feel confident in our recommendation!

My standard camp outfit is around 45lbs of ultralight gear, including the weight of the bag and water, I have no issue hauling this for miles a day. It's comfy - just be sure to size it correctly before you load it up, and pack it with the heavy stuff in the middle. If you know what you're doing you will love this pack. (If you don't know what you're doing you might end up crying like that reviewer that said he was in the fetal position with hurt shoulders. Sorry dude, stick with car camping)
If you're backpacking you will want a larger bag like this one, especially if you are carrying extra weight for younger adventurers, or if you're belaying - This has all the features to hold your climbing gear and give you easy access to it.
Get into the wild. Go have fun.

I am not usually one to write detailed reviews on items, but the insanely great quality this pack provides deserves one. This backpack is not for your average day to day outdoorsman, this thing is for the true hiker. The title itself, "Mountain Adventurer 4000," says it all. For anything you could possibly imagine carrying in to any adventure in the world....this pack has you covered. Seriously....this pack offers enough real estate for attaching a variety of carabiners, sleeping pads, bottles, etc. The COMFORT of the shoulder straps, back pads, and waist strap truly allow for a very pleasant trip. The last thing anyone wants on a backpacking trip is sore spots from bad support or weak padding. You won't have to worry about that with the Mountain Adventurer 4000. I also used to worry about SPACE when I took off for a several day trek. Amazingly enough, this pack offers 4000 cubic inches or 66L of space in a VERY WELL designed, compact, and ergonomic pack. If the comfort and space don't convince you that this is the one, how about the INSANE price point at a mere $140.00, this pack can turn ANYONE in to the ultimate adventurer. If you are a serious outdoorsman/woman who is looking for comfort, quality, ultralight gear, and affordability, then TETON Sports and this Mountain Adventurer pack has your back....literally! With a LIFETIME WARRANTY, you can be sure that your investment will never be a risk. TETON Sports has completely changed my outlook on adventuring by providing a very well built and high quality product line that is AFFORDABLE. If nothing I have said thus far interests you, and you are on the fence between two pack styles or prices, remember that this one comes with a FREE survival poncho capable of not only keeping rain off of you during your adventures, but offers the security of a emergency shelter or pack cover just in case!
Overall, TETON hit a home run with this backpack. For the ultralight, comfortable, compact, spacious, and efficiency....your money couldn't be better spent.

Single space bag, multiple zips are not pockets. Zips of low quality, undo themselves all the time.
Want a refund, but I've damaged it in attempt to fix.
